General objectives
On completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to do the following:

1. Name the basic knowledge concerning the installation, the operating principle and the choice of rotodynamic pumps in a hydraulic network;
2. Modeling a hydraulic network (friction and minor losses, elevation rise);
3. Use the coefficients of the valves;
4. Identify the type of waterhammer (mass or wave) present in pipes, evaluate the magnitudes of pressure variations and propose adequate means to mitigate the transient effects.
Content
- Hydraulic networks (friction and minor losses, altitude rise, pipes in parallel and / or in series),
- Operating principle of rotodynamic pumps (generality, constitution, pump curves, pump coupling, operating point, specific speed, similarity, cavitation, adaptation of the operating point) ;
- Control valve (types of valves, valve coefficients);
- Transient phenomena in pipes (generalized equations of transient flows, waterhammers, means of protection).

Pre-requisites : fluid mechanics

Assessment(s)
Nature Coefficient Observable objectives
1 Ability to solve a simple real configuration using theoretical aspects. 1 The written exam consists of a series of questions on the course followed by several exercises proposing a simple hydraulic configuration to study
2 1 Continuous Assessment
