Objectifs Généraux
By the end of this module, students will be able to :
1. Determine the mathematical model of an LTI system : Mainly the use of differential equations and the application of the Laplace transform to find the transfer function
2. Apply the reduction block diagram rules to find the transfer function of a given LTI system
3. Describe and analyze the response of a first and a second order system
4. Evaluate the performances of a first and second order system
5. Identify the difference between Proportional, Integral , Derivative controllers or any combinaison of these three basic controllers
6. Understand the use of the aformentioned controllers, implement them (with respect to some specifications) on some real systems and interpret the obtained results
Contenu
1. Introduction to continuous Linear Time-Invariant (LTI) systems
2. Mathematical models of LTI systems
3. Block diagram and the reduction rules
4. Time-domain analysis of a first order system
5. Time domain analysis of a second order system

Évaluation(s)
Nature Coefficient Objectifs
1 Written exam 0,2 This written exam stands for a Midterm. The contents of the midterm will be defined according to the progress of the lectures and tutorials
2 Practical work 0,3 There are two lab sessions. Each Lab lasts 4 hours. The students will be evaluated on their effort during the lab and on the report they provide for each session
3 Written exam 0,5 The Final exam will take into account all the parts the student had seen during lectures, tutorials and labs
