To solve mathematical problems numerically through computer programming:
1. Describe a mathematical problem
2. Develop numerical methods for solving the equations
3. Implement an appropriate numerical algorithm using Octave
4. Calculate numerical solutions
5. Estimate numerical calculations errors
6. Provide graphical illustrations
Content
Introduction to numerical simulations, mathematical formulations and computer programming.
Description of classical numerical methods (discretization, Bisection method, Newton's method, Euler's method, Gaussian elimination, curve fitting, numerical integration, numerical differentiation, finite elements)
Implementing appropriate numerical algorithm using Octave.
Numerical approximation and error estimation.
Graphical representation.
