This module covers the fundamentals of computer networks, including the historical context and various use cases. It also explores the client/server model of communication, network components, and infrastructure. The module introduces communication protocols and their specifications, along with TCP/IP and OSI models for communication.

Addressing schemes at the layer 2 (MAC Address) and layer 3 (IP Address) are also discussed, as well as frames and packet processing and the role of end devices and intermediary devices in network communication. The module explores communication on local and remote networks, including an in-depth discussion of the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP).

Security of information systems is a critical aspect, and this module provides an understanding of internal and external threats to information systems. It also introduces cryptographic schemes to encrypt and decrypt data, as well as the Information Systems Security Policy (ISSP).

Lastly, the module delves into the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA).
