Advanced English: Lessons every other week / Homework & Workshop preparation the other weeks

First part is a student-led discussion based on a variety of sources provided at the beginning of the module. Sources originate from newspapers, podcasts, websites etc. Students are encouraged to choose unfamiliar subjects and themes in order to expand vocabulary and lexical range. Teachers provide feedback and grammar corrections at the end of every session.

Second part is a workshop. Groups of 2 or 3 students lead a workshop they have previously prepared on a subject appropriate for final year engineering students. Interactive elements, debates and active participation are encouraged. Teachers and peers provide feedback after each session.

Following their workshop, students complete a 750-word report evaluating their performance and reflecting on its success.

Pre-requisites / co-requisites
ECAM4 semester 8 English.
A mock TOEIC in the first session is given to evaluate current levels

TOEIC preparation: Students with a mock score of 795 or less

Advanced English: a minimum official TOEIC score of 800 or a minimum mock TOEIC score of 850

Students who have mock TOEIC scores between 800 and 850 decide which group to join after consultation with teachers.
