N° | Nature | Coefficient | Observable objectives |
1 | At the end of the course, there will be a final exam about all the concepts covered in the course. The exam consists of short questions as well as thorough analysis problems. | 60 | The final exam tests the students’ understanding of the entire course, which includes: - Diffusion process - Phase Diagrams of metals - Microstructure of metals - Equilibrium and Non-Equilibrium Cooling - Binary Eutectic Systems |
2 | The students will perform in the first part of the LAB work an impact and tensile test on different types of polymers in order to determine the mechanical properties of the materials (Practical work based on Materials 1 course). In the second part, students will heat an alloy in order to determine experimentally its heating and cooling curves. They will analyze the phase diagram of the alloy and represents its microstructure at different compositions. Students will be evaluated according to their LAB work as well as their comprehension and analysis. | 30 | The students should learn how to: - measure the modulus of elasticity of polymers - measure the resilience of polymers - plot ana analyze the heating and cooling curves |
3 | The students should expect a drop quiz in each session about the previous lesson. | 10 | Continuous Assessment |
