Learning outcomes
This project aims at developing the students engineering skills via a design project, from the initial idea until technical developments.
The project is focused on product innovation. It is a multidisciplinary project: teams are composed of students from the 4 concentrations in robotics, mechanical design, energy engineering and industrial & supply chain management.
The project is decomposed into 2 main phases:
1. Problem exploration and analysis
2. Technical development and entrepreneurship

The main skills targeted are:
Phase 1 (SEMESTER 7)
- Manage a project: plan, manage, communicate, respect deadlines and commitments, provide feedback
- Manage team collaboration: work in a multidisciplinary team, organize the tasks and distribute the roles, organize the decision-making process, self-evaluate the teamwork.
- Use the creativity tools and animate some creativity sessions in autonomy: for the early design steps (concepts) and for problem-solving.
- Write a mission letter: be able to imagine a business context, clarify the project goals and resources
- Identify and analyse a potential market, write a marketing requirements document
- Analyse the potential user behaviours by adopting a user-centred approach and Design for Sustainable Behaviour tools, define users' profiles and persona
- Identify and prioritize the main functions by using Functional Analysis, define performance criteria: write the functional requirements of the product
- Identify and describe use scenarios and use cases, define usability criteria, write the interactional requirements of the product

Phase 2 (SEMESTER 8):
- Use problem-solving creativity tools to specify the potential technological solutions: define the Technical Product Architecture
- Use the Technical Functional Analysis and write the technical requirements of the product
- Commit to relevant technical developments that are consistent with the available time and resources
- Ensure the realization of the technical developments (related to all the engineering fields taught at Ecam) and organize the "concurrent engineering" development
- Adopt an entrepreneurship approach on the product: realize a profit/loss forecast and a financing plan
- Understand the main principles and interest of using Virtual Reality as design support to test the use scenarios
- Test the technical performances of the developed parts and check the gaps with the requirements
- Realize the business plan of the developed product
- Pitch and present the final solution in front of a multidisciplinary jury board
