*Groups are organised by TOEIC score so content and objectives vary according to students' different levels Further strengthening of vocabulary, and grammatical accuracy in both professional and social situations Improve listening and reading comprehension skills Improve oral expression and fluency Develop cultural sensitivity and awareness of cultural codes Prepare and deliver an individual presentation Create, animate and manage a masterclass for fellow students (higher-level groups) Work towards a minimum TOEIC score of 800 required to graduate (lower-level groups) Acquire industrial, corporate and technical language that students may have or will be confronted with during internships and in their future careers as engineers. Learning objectives: Language skills according to different CEFR level groups: B2 level Listening comprehension: Can understand standard spoken language on both familiar and unfamiliar topics normally encountered in personal, academic or vocational life. Can understand the main ideas of complex speech on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in listener's field of specialisation. Can follow extended speech with complex lines of argument, for example in lectures, radio documentaries and live interviews. Reading comprehension: Can understand a broad range of texts and specialised articles. Can identify the content and relevance of news items, articles and reports. Spoken English Can produce stretches of language with a fairly even tempo Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity Can express viewpoints and develop arguments C1 level Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning Can express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes Can produce clear well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices |

2 hour lessons every week. Consolidation of grammar and expanded vocabulary. Strategies, techniques and practice papers to prepare for the TOEIC (lower-level groups) Assigned presentations (individual and in groups) on a variety of themes, including international current affairs and cross-cultural elements Students animate masterclasses where interactive elements, debates and active participation are encouraged. Task-based practice of language appropriate for professional and social settings. Assignments will be related to engineering or corporate related themes. |
